Print ArticleRIALTO – Assembly Majority Leader Congressman Alberto Torrico has confirmed he will join the all-star cast set to celebrate turning the county "blue" when the San Bernardino County Democratic Party hosts a San "BLUE-nardino" County Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 4 to 11 p.m., at Bob Molina Memorial Park, Brotherhood of Teamsters local #63, 379 West Valley Boulevard, Rialto.
Assemblymember is the Assembly Majority Leader, the second highest post in California's State Assembly. He represents the 20th Assembly District and lives with wife, son and daughter in Newark.
Torrico is responsible for major Democratic legislative initiatives and for developing the Democratic Caucus. He has authored 38 bills which passed the Legislature, 27 of which have been signed into law by Gov. Schwarzenegger.
He has been named legislator of the year by the California State Firefighters' Association, the Peace Officers Research Association, the Neighborhood Grocers Association, the California Association of Bilingual Educators, the American Electronics Association, and the Asian Pacific Islanders Community Action Network.
He has served as Chair of the Governmental Organization Committee, generally recognized as one of the Capitol's most powerful committees, and also as Chair of the Committee on Public Employees Retirement and Social Security, and Chair of the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus.
